Anger Management Road Rage Discussion
In this fast-paced world, everybody is subconsciously forced to do everything
in
a jiffy.
And this do-everything-you-can-as-fast-as-you-can-because-everybody-is-doing-it-that-way attitude can cause
stress and anxiety.
Put toppings of lingering financial issues and relationship problems, place on the shoulder of a driver and
observe the driver’s reaction when cut off by another driver or edged out by another in a parking lot and what you
get is road rage at its worst.
Now, in the end of it all, there is no one to ultimately blame when road rage occurs than the protagonists
themselves because if they did not succumb to their anger whatever the situation may be, then all the damage to
property or injury to another person (or probably even death) could have been prevented.
So what all drivers need is anger management to prevent road rage. We need to check on our anger and make sure
that it we leave it out the car door upon entering it.
Here are a few tips on anger management for the prevention of road rage.
• Test yourself. Analyze your driving behavior by asking yourself questions such as: Do I always feel the hero
and try to set other bad drivers straight? Do I regularly weave in and out of traffic? Do I minimize the use of my
horn and my lights to notify other drivers that I am irate and that they are annoying me? Do I always try to cross
even if it is showing yellow already on the traffic lights? Try recording yourself while driving. Sometimes we are
unaware how absurd we react until we actually hear ourselves.
• Always keep in mind that what the other driver is doing is not about you. He is probably in a hurry or in an
emergency, we will never know, but keeping that thought in mind may help you try to understand the other driver
more. You are never the target. The other drive most likely just made a mistake and he did not mean to do what he
just did.
• Remember, road rage or any other forms of anger are detrimental to your health, and may eventually cause heart
issues, and it makes you ugly. Have you ever noticed a person so stressed out and when he or she gets angry she
literally transforms into an abominable-looking individual? That is how you will look with anger. So in the end,
you end up the loser whatever the outcome of your rage is.
• Breathing deeply will help. When you get cut off, instead of shouting, hold your breath for the longest time
and release it slowly. You will immediately feel yourself relaxing. Continue doing that for the next couple of
minutes and you are good to go.
