Garbage Haulers OK Contracts, Avoid Strike (Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune)
SEATTLE (AP) - Garbage haulers approved new contracts Sunday night, avoiding a strike that could have affected millions of customers in King and Snohomish counties. The Teamsters Local 174 voted 236-140 in favor of four-year proposals from Allied Waste Industries Inc. and Waste Management Inc., said the local's secretary-treasurer, Dan Scott. Vote totals for each contract were not broken down.
